How It All Started

Founded by my late husband nearly 20 years ago, C&B Support Services was built on a commitment and passion for helping underserved and special needs communities – whether it be through community outreach, peer support, or advocation. What began as a mission to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities has since grown to include compassionate, community-based care through both CAP-C and CAP-DA programs.

In its infancy, our agency focused its efforts on I/DD individuals. However, in 2012, that focus expanded when we began offering CAP-C services. James believed that impactful services should be brought to the community where people lived, not in some office building that wasn't easily accessible to many families. So, James and I both set out to prove that great case management and community outreach services could be made available to every community.

Our Family

We have lived in Western North Carolina since 1995. We adopted two beautiful children, and spent several years active in the Foster/ Adopt Community in Buncombe County as foster parents. James always remained focused on being the best Husband, Father, Boss and Advocate that he could be. He is deeply missed, but we carry on his legacy through the work we continue to do for all the families we serve. James was always one to see the potential in every person and looked at the spectrum of ability that people have, not just a set point. The name C and B comes from his nieces, Christina and Betsy, who are polar opposites on that spectrum of ability, but both contributing so much in their own ways to understanding human potential. Sadly, Christina preceded James in death, but her legacy continues as well in the work we do each day.

We continue to build on and honor James' legacy. We proudly offer CAP-DA Services to the counties we serve – a posthumous dream realized for both James and myself. My only hope is to extend that dream to all families in need.
